Force Trigger Post Mortem

I just submitted my entry, and I hope you find it fun. Force Trigger

I had a lot of fun coming up with this game, but I definitely had my share of issues as well. Let’s talk about what went right, and what went wrong.

What went right

  • I had my game idea ready to go on day which is nice. I pretty much kept to the plan throughout the entire week. Although, in the end I decided that the other two physics based guns I made weren’t very fun to use so I removed them.
  • I feel that the game concept has a lot of potential, but I definitely didn’t execute on the idea as well as I hoped. I hope that over time I’ll continue to toy with the idea and come up with a truly good game.
  • I have a playable game. That is always good, right?

What went wrong

  • Too much time messing with lighting and graphics. A couple days before the end I decided that I didn’t like the way the game looked and I made some pretty major changes in this area. I should have just left it be so I had more time to make more levels, fix bugs, etc.
  • I really wanted to have a handful of levels that illustrated different tricks for moving through the levels. Unfortunately, time ran out.
  • I spent quite of bit of time in the first few days working on two guns which, in the end, I removed from the game. This burned way too much time, but without knowing that they wouldn’t be very fun to use I couldn’t have done this any other way.

Thanks for reading. Enjoy the game, and let me know what you think.
