Late intro

Hi!

This is a super late intro!  I’m Tom from Apparition Games.  I’m still relatively new at this game dev stuff, especially in 3D, but I wanted to give this a try.

My game is tentatively called Cosmic Run. You start on a platform in space and see more platforms in front of you. The platforms start crumbling behind you and force you to keep moving forward. As you’re running and jumping you have to shoot the enemies in your way and do it quickly enough to stay ahead of the impending destruction from behind.

I’m finally In!

Hi !

I’m Marc from MPE, a hobbiest gamedev group.

I have to start late and also won’t have very much time to dedicate to this but I finally wanted to participate in an online jam/competition. So here I go :)

I aim for getting something finish at all, so I go for basic shooter mechanics. I made a game 4 years ago for 0x10h called EM2008 which loosly resembles a soccer game (0x10h was a german local jam so EM stands for Europameisterschaft which refers to the European Soccer Championship which happens every 4 years)
So if the time allows it I would like to try adding a ball and two goals and make EM2012. Btw. I noticed someone else also makes a Soccer game. So my idea is not unique, but I’ll do it anyways :)

I’ll be using Ogre3D + Newton Game Dynamics.

Have fun & keep coding!

Hello! 7DFPS Project – Day 3

Hello! I’m the wannabe game developer, known as SolarLune. I was working on another project, but I decided to try to join 7DFPS to squeeze something fun out in a couple of days. I’m working with the free, cross-platform Blender Game Engine. So far, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve got.

(For whatever reason, click on this post to see the screenshots.)

I’m not a fan of violent titles, so I decided to make more of a puzzle FPS game. I still have to nail down the gameplay and code, but the (rather simple, I suppose) assets are turning out alright so far. I’ve implemented a simple light level-of-detail system, where lights move to the nearest of placed lighting nodes that I place around the map. The placed lights also take on the nodes’ color and energy. This way, I don’t have to have a lot of lights present at a given time – I can just have a few; just as many as are onscreen at a time.

The project is still unnamed, currently. I hope to make the game for Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you want to follow game development progress, you can follow me on Twitter. Anyway, thanks for reading!

Introduction – Probably a bit late

Hello!

I’m Abel Toy, also known as Rolpege, and I’m entering 7dfps. It’s a bit late but hopefully I can still finish something!

My idea at the momment is some arena fps with direct inspiration from Super Crate Box. There’s the same crate mechanics, they are used to get score and they change you the weapon. I’ll try to add different mechanics to it tho, apart from the fps and 3D.

About me… I haven’t really made any 3D game yet. I’ve used Flash (plain AS3, flixel and my favourite and most used – FlashPunk), XNA C#, etc. to make games and I have played a bit with Unity3D, but never really made anything serious. I also have no knowledge about modelling, animating or texturing in 3D. I plan to change this though, during these 7 days (now 4)!

So yeah, that’s it. Follow me on Twitter! @Abel_Toy

Zombies on the way!

Imagine being completely alone, in an unknown dark hallway, having nothing on yourself but a flashlight and a gun with 6 bullets. You wander a bit around sinister looking corridors, not finding anything. Then you hear a sound in the distance…it is low and grumbling, but you can just make out the word….brains…..braaaains. So you think to yourself: “Yap, I’m in a dark hallway filled with zombies armed with not more than a peashooter.”

Zombies in the dark is straight-to-the-point titled first person shooter/sneaker. You need to crawl through unknown hallways and find the exit, all the way dodging (or shooting if you have bullets left) brain-crawing mindless zombies. We are aiming to create a fun and atmospheric game for those times when you really need to be scared to your bones!

We will be adding new posts and screenshots and maybe some in-game video footage here so check back often!

Intro

I know this is kind of late, but I forgot about documenting it! Anyways, this is my first 3d game. This contest actually ends on my 14th birthday, so that makes this even better! Anyways, I doubt I’ll be able to execute but my idea is this: You are a kid who is in a factory and finds a magnet gun, where you can shoot 2 charges, either positive or negative, at objects and you must use this mechanic to solve puzzles. In the past 2 days I’ve made the shooting mechanic, I’ve been preoccupied with studying for finals. Tonight I started one of the magnet scripts, but that’s not going in tonight’s build. Tonight I’m just including a basic template for an fps game that I’m using: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2x7178q9vohcbu7/7DFPS.zip

Thanks for reading and good luck everyone!

6DoF 7DFPS

ok, officially in now. I’m making a six degrees of freedom shooter with big, blocky geometric enemies and lots of rockets to dodge. Hopefully I get enough time to make something resembling a game out of this.

First day

Hi,

At the beginning I wanted to make a browser FPS with some weird social network connection, so I spent a lot of time ”playing” with Away3DLite and Sandy3D 3D libraries. After 20 hours  I couldn’t make it work, and if I could, I could not with the performance I needed, so I move onto GLBASIC and after a couple of hours I had the core engine working.

My idea is to make a FPS version of Robotz a 2D shooter for the Atari ST, actually of the amazing remake Robotz DX made by Heavy Stylus.

This is what I have so far:

  • Map made with Basic blocks and blocky textures
  • Wolfenstein 3D-like keyboard controls and camera
  • Circle to Rectangle collision detection
  • Still enemies

I don’t think I’m going to have enough time to finish all the things I want to do, but I will try to finish the core mechanics and release an Android Version.

I’m using:

  • GLBasic
  • Paint.net

Good luck!!!

Inner FPS

I am beginning 7dfps challenge pretty late and spent most of the day today thinking of the theme for the game.

I want to stick to shooting but avoid violence. Finally decided on the theme where you will be fighting inner demons(A Zero person shooter?) Will probably won’t have time to make actual levels. So it’s just going to be a collection of big boss battles in an open space.

Just started playing around with three.js and WebGL renderer. Hope to have the first boss battle done today.

YO

Hey everyone, I’m kind of late but I was busy all today so I didn’t have time to start…

I have never programmed a 3D game before but hopefully this won’t stop me from making an FPS in 7 (well, 6 now technically) days. To be honest I’ve only ever programmed one game before, in XNA using C#. I haven’t decided whether or not to try and use something like Unity or Quake rip apart an FPS example made in XNA and try to make something out of that.

Yeah I also have no idea how to model in 3D, animate 3D models, create 3D levels, write AI or design in 3D.

Well since I am some sort of underdog, if this was a movie then I’d succeed against all the odds and make the best FPS game ever made.
