Call of Warfare: Blocks (week 2)

I suppose at this point it’s no longer a 7dfps, but I wanted to post an update.  Been working over the past week to add multiplayer support and fix bugs. I’m really happy with how this project has turned out so far. The multiplayer is fast paced and tons of fun (at least for the playtesters I’ve had so far).

Call of Warfare: Blocks is written in C# using the XNA Framework. There’s a dedicated server application (also written in C#) but written without XNA.  This allows the server app to run on a linux machine for cheap hosting.

Here’s the project page for the 7dfps version: http://7dfps.org/?projects=call-of-warfare-blocks

If anyone has questions or comments, I’d love to hear them.

Progress on my 7dfps voxel thing

So I’ve made some progress, hacked up my old code, added individual red, green, blue lighting to each block.  Also had to build in support for stairs and smooth climbing which now works well.  Still using ‘stone’ and torch textures, need to switch them to a spaceship interior looking thing I am going to go with.

FPS free for all

I wasn’t planning on joining but why not, should be fun.  I’ll be using my voxel engine I’ve been working on for ‘BlockGame’.  Right now it’s network only so I’ll have to rip it apart and put it back together but that shouldn’t be a big deal.  This will be my first FPS, looking forward to it.

Joining the fun

Hey guys – I’m a long time programmer that has dabbled in games for a long time but never really put something out there for anyone to see aside from my game BugMaze on Kongregate : http://www.kongregate.com/games/madoxlabs/bugmaze?acomplete=bugmaze

I’ve worked with DirectX in Windows, XNA on the XBox, as well as java and Flash – but for this challenge I’m going to try to use what I have been learning lately which is XNA and Silverlight on WindowsPhone7.  I don’t really know how I will upload progress videos or how anyone else will be able to try the game without an actual WP7, but I’m just gonna have fun.

I’m going to attempt to create an augmented reality game where you need to find and shoot enemies around you by rotating yourself and looking through the phone.

GNEU 7DFPS Intro Post

Hey all,

GNEU.org represented here by Terry Moenkhaus and Bob Chatman. We are aiming to create a FPS in of you.

Currently, we are planning everything out, but seem to have settled on an idea. See here for our inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVKnF26qFFM :)

Obviously, to make this game in 7 days, we can’t be making everything look super realistic, so we are aiming for Cell Shaded 3D stick figure (If you know the later Xiao Xiao shorts, you know what I’m thinking.) The weapons of choice will be nerf guns just like the video. We are looking at 3 main game types to start, CTF, Push, and TDM. This will, of course, be fully multiplayer. :)

We will be using XNA for the engine, and whatever 3d tools we can find for level generation and modeling.

We wish you all the best of luck, and can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

- GNEU
